Written Communication: A Summary of the Process
Introduction:
We were given an assignment to describe the writing process in a brief and summarized way as a requirement of our “Written Communication” coursework. We can have great ideas for business, ideas related to improving process at an organization or creative ideas but the most important part is to communicate and articulate those ideas in an effective way. Thus written skills are very important part of our education and students should know the difference between well written and disrupt document. The assignment I did started from highlighting the importance of written communication, then I shared some theories related to it. Later on discussed some ideas on how to improve written expression and supported it with my research. Finally I read the whole document for mistakes and correction.

Reflection:
The foremost challenge was to keep the assignment detailed and yet precise with the use of small meaningful sentences to summarize the process of written communication. Once I completed it, I faced difficulty in proofreading as I had to cut some parts short and make them more interesting with certain details. I also took note of my grammatical mistakes and sentence structure and improved on it. I realized that written communication is not writing oriented, mostly it’s rewriting. I would recommend to other students doing the same assignment that they should use grammar and vocabulary in their favor and make the writing interesting rather than elusive. Also if I had more time, I would have added more examples and illustrations.

Speech on Personal and Professional Life
Introduction:
In this assignment, we were asked to make a speech on our personal and professional life and present it in front of whole class to enhance our communication skills. It was the responsibility of every student to make the speech in such a manner which clearly portrays our personal interests and professional goals. We were also expected to give reason behind choosing our major and thoroughly explain our motivation behind them. The entire audience participated by asking certain questions so that they can judge our communication skills. I put all my efforts in this assignment and presented the speech confidently to convey my thoughts to the audience. This speech was given with a motive of developing verbal communication skills in the students of PMU.
Reflection:
This assignment has been successful in improving my verbal communication skills. In the start, I was quite shy and was not confident at all. But then I practiced many times in front of the mirror because of which I gained confidence and gave the speech confidently. Because of this practice giving the speech became easier for me. I was lucky to have such a friendly audience which was constantly boosting my confidence. If I ever repeat this assignment, I will try to talk about my career goals in a much-detailed manner. I would like to suggest others to try this strategy of practicing in front of the mirror as it turns out to be a good help.

Discussion on Human Resource Management:
Introduction:
In this assignment, we were asked to form groups and give opinions and views regarding human Resource Management. Each group was given a task of presenting certain points that can tell how a company can strengthen their human resource department. A good collection of ideas was gathered regarding the enhancement of different functions of HR which helped in learning the importance of communication in human resources.
Reflection:
This assignment was a great experience for me as it helped me in enhancing my professional communication skills whose concepts were not clear in my mind before this assignment. In this assignment, I learnt to listen to other person’s advices and also how to put my own thoughts without degrading other people’s ideas. It was not an easy task for me but I somehow managed to do justice with this task. If I repeat this assignment, I will try to improve my convincing skills and use some powerful strategies to convince other people on my decisions. I advise others to take part in such tasks as they help a lot in developing professional communication skills.

Detailed Essay on Industrial Pollution
Introduction
We were required to write and submit an essay on an informative subject and the topic I chose was industrial pollution and its hazards. The assignment targeted our written communication skills, research skills and our ability to transfer the knowledge effectively. I did my research and found supportive data to write an informative essay in a formal style. I discussed how this pollution effects the life of people hazardously and also tried to hint towards some solutions. I decided to make it technical by describing facts and processes used in industries and their operation. I imparted valuable and concrete knowledge to the reader through my essay.
Reflection
The learning outcome of this assignment for me was that I practiced professional writing and documentation. Previously I have written essays which were not in a formal tone so this was a new learning experience for me. The topic itself made me realize how industrialization is adversely affecting not only humans but flora and fauna. However, if given the chance to reattempt this task I will try to access how this hazard to human being evolved and adopted over the years by studying its history. To my fellow students attempting the same assignment, my suggestion would be that they should also include suggestions as to how to avoid this hazard by containing and controlling it.
